Summerhall Distillery Tour and Whisky Tasting
Monday 23rd June 2025, meet outside of 50 George Square at 17:00
Kickstart Marine 2025 with a Distillery Tour and Whisky Tasting!
Join us for an evening of discovery at the historic Summerhall Distillery, nestled within the former Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies at the University of Edinburgh. Once home to generations of veterinarians in training, this remarkable building’s legacy enriches every corner, with its classic lecture rooms transformed for an unforgettable whisky-tasting experience.
At 17:10, conference delegates will depart from the conference centre for an 11-minute stroll through the scenic Meadows Park, a beloved oasis of lush green lawns, majestic trees, and lively pathways, often teeming with local life and brimming with history. The walk through the Meadows offers a perfect prelude to the exclusive experience we have planned for you. Once inside Summerhall Distillery, you will be guided through this enchanting exploration of the Broody Hen range, where insights into the artistry of blending and the hunt for exceptional casks await. Hear captivating tales and legends surrounding the famous Scottish spirit and learn how each Broody Hen whisky captures a unique piece of Scottish culture and tradition. As tasting notes unfold, savour the rich complexities of peat, oak, and sherry on four full drams (Broody Hen Scotch Blend, 10-year-old Single Malt, a Sherry Cask Blended Malt, Peat Blended Malt). Each sip celebrates the heritage of Scottish whisky-making, offering both seasoned enthusiasts and newcomers a captivating 60-minute sensory journey for a memorable evening.
Delegates may then decide to gather for an informal meal and we suggest the next door brilliantly bonkers Royal Dick pub, which serves top-notch food and drinks (and gin on tap!) from noon till night.
We secured a discounted cost for this experience at £25.00 per delegate and companion. There are limited spaces, so be the first to register for MARINE 2025 and add this event to your registration.
